Alcohol has been the theme of the day since my latest blog. Friday night: out with collegues in the pub Saturday night: Helen' s birthday party Sunday night: leftovers of Helen's birthday party Monday: meeting with Aya after four months. Lots to talk about! Tuesday: Helen's official birthday. Wednesday: can't remember. Korsakow. Watched Trainspotting Thursday: out with the people of the karate club Friday: out with collegues to the pub Today I am writing my MSc thesis since a long time. Listened to Spijkers met Koppen via the Web: really good to be back in the habit of listening to Hilversum 2 on a Saturday morning. Tomorrow I am going to see the celebrations of Chinese New Year in China Town and watch a Dutch film "Crazy" in the NFT. C u!  permanent link for this entry

Got a phone call yesterday from Harold: they are not coming this weekend. He's fallen ill. I read today that it is freezing cold in the Netherlands and everyone is buying skates! I can't believe it. Well, it's cold here in London, but skating that is another thing!  permanent link for this entry

Walking to Clapham South Station this morning, the view over Clapham Common was really beautiful! However, as soon as I came to the tube there was again an awful lot of people waiting. Took me ages to get to work.  permanent link for this entry

Sunday night James, Helen and me went for a beer and afterwards James and me watched the film Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon in Clapham Common Picture House. Good moves, crap storyline. This week I get to work on the multi-lingual routing for Europe again. Very exciting and it involves quite some programming! Feel quite worried about Raquel in El Salvador after the earthquake last saturday... Let's hope for the better.  permanent link for this entry

Last night me and my collegues celebrated the return of Karl who left the company just before I started. Furthermore, the server I last spoke about is now even serving life travel directions and of course I have a fixed apppointment so all the more reasons to get drunk! This morning I finally went to see the exhibition "Spectacular Bodies" at Hayward Gallery. It was really a stomach churning experience. It is a shame Harold won't be able to see this exhibition as this weekend is the last opportunity to visit, but he and his girlfriend Anne will only come to see me next week! I am really looking forward to meeting them. Have a nice weekend!  permanent link for this entry

Yeeeehaaaa! At last, the server is running properly! I think I would grad as a Microsoft Certified Software Engineer by now, but I am definitely not proud of this. On tuesday I have been working for multimap.com for three month, thus finished my probationary period. Today I had my appraisal and now I am a fixed-contract employee! After work I had a very good karate class. Especially the katas went very well. I am starting to get to know the people by now and it is good to be sometimes backamong students. Makes you starting to long back to the old times... So much for now. Tomorrow night some drinks to celebrate!  permanent link for this entry

Happy New Year! Started last wednesday again at work. Boring again as the troubles with the server keep me busy. Next wednesday I have my appraisal, so that will be definitely one of the things to bring up: I am not a computer scientist making maps, but a cartographer with an interest in computers! On thursday I went to see the film Unbreakable together with Ben, a friend at work. Was quite okay, but really The Sixth Sense was much better (for a Hollywood film). This morning I cleaned the bathroom, at last! It really smells nicely again. Tomorrow the kitchen?  permanent link for this entry
