Smoothly move map view using overview window.
The overview-detail interface neither inhibits the directions users want to move the map view towards, nor does it restrict the distance users move the map view. Users click on the border of the field-of-view indicator in the overview window and drag it to move the map view in the detail window.
As the field-of-view indicator moves in the overview window, the map view in the detail window smoothly updates. If the view is moved over a larger distance, more map features are sent on-the-fly to the browser to fill in the blank spots on the map. The map interface relies heavily on Java applets and proprietary MapTP technology. Well done!
